Pooja Bhusari
Ceramic Artist | Founder of Klay Kathaa Ceramics
With over a decade and a half in the IT industry, my journey from algorithms to art forms has been a transformative one. As a trained computer engineer, I spent years crafting solutions in the corporate world, yet the call of creativity always lingered in the background. This innate pull eventually led me to explore pottery, first as a hobby, then as a profound means of self-discovery.
My ceramics journey began with the awe of creation—working with clay, one of humanity’s most elemental materials. What started as simple functional pottery evolved into an immersive exploration of sculptural forms and artistic expression. A move to Kolkata, the "City of Joy," marked a turning point, inspiring me to delve into terracotta murals, sculptures, and high-temperature stoneware. Recognizing the need to refine my skills, I pursued formal training in fine arts, developing my expertise in sketching, color theory, and design.
Today, I create unique ceramic sculptures, relief murals, and functional pieces that blend natural elements with a deep personal narrative. My work is inspired by the interplay of form and color, reflecting my belief in the limitless possibilities of clay. Every creation is a labor of love, an intimate dialogue with the medium, and a reflection of the places, people, and experiences that shape my journey.
As I often say, “What you seek is seeking you… my conversations with clay are only getting more personal!”
Through Klay Kathaa Ceramics, I continue to share my passion for ceramics, crafting pieces that resonate with joy, connection, and the beauty of imperfection. My work embodies the philosophy that art is both a mirror and a map—a way to discover myself while sharing a part of my story with the world.

ABOUT KLAY KATHAA
Welcome to Klay Kathaa Studio Ceramics
Since 2013, I’ve been telling stories through ceramic art inspired by the people and places around me. Your support for my one-woman business means so much to me. I hope you find something here that speaks to you.
What’s in the name, Klay Kathaa?
‘Kathaa’ in Hindi means a story, and ‘Klay’ is a playful misspelling of clay. Together, Klay Kathaa reflects my desire to tell stories through this timeless medium. This name has been with me since the day I first began working with clay, and it continues to embody my artistic journey.
Each piece I create weaves a narrative inspired by the people, places, and moments that surround me. Whether it’s a functional piece for everyday use or a decorative sculpture, my goal is to connect these stories to your life, bringing a part of my world into your home.
What is the ‘kathaa’ behind my logo?
‘It’s the circle of life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
‘Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the circle
The circle of life’
Clay reminds me of life’s eternal cycle—a cup formed, cherished, and eventually returned to the earth. My logo symbolizes this circle of life, reflecting clay’s timeless essence and its ability to hold and share stories across time.
